The Granada cinema made way for a large carpet shop with a first floor motor repair garage, which in turn gave way to this large block of flats



and in the High Street, the Odeon gave way to a large Sainsbury supermarket, which later moved out to Kiln Lane, and the store was converted to a retail clothing store on the ground floor with a health club over.



The historic Assembly Rooms, then split up into several shops, later the headquarters of the National Building Society, then empty for several years, and thankfully then carefully restored as a Wetherspoon pub
